Swedish
Cope Log Homes
The
Swedish Cope log home style, also sometimes called Saddle Cope, uses
round logs that have a concave groove removed from the bottom of each
log to allow the logs to stack firmly on top of each other. This groove
is machined to exact specifications to create a load-bearing,
weather-tight seal. The Swedish Cope name is derived from the
saddle-like notch that is milled at the bottom of each log.

Swedish Cope Style Appeal
One
advantage of
the
Swedish Cope style is that it appeals to homeowners who prefer the
rounded logs on both the exterior and interior sides of the home.
Aesthetically pleasing, the Swedish Cope Log can be be used in both
internal and external walls to give the look of full, round logs.
Strength and Weather Resistance
Because the join
is
at the bottom of the log in a Swedish Cope style home, it's impossible
for water to run in, making it one of the most weather-tight products
available for log homes. The corners of a Swedish Cope log home extend
out past the corner of the house, which helps tie the walls together
and also improves the strength and stability of the home.
Manufacturing Process of Swedish Cope Logs
Our
partner
manufacturer uses a shaper machine (instead of a traditional lathe) to
profile the log into the desired shape or size with options of 8", 9",
10", 12", 13" wide and up to 50' long for the larger version with a
smooth surface (hand peeling the log is a common option). These logs
are milled with highly accurate dimensions, making them easy to build
with and beautiful to look at. Our manufacturer can produce both the
Round Tongue and Groove log and the traditional Round Swedish Cope log.

Homes and CNW Log Homes specialize in Swedish Cope log homes and can
help you make the most of this beautiful, versatile log home style. Our
partner manufacturer can produce Swedish Cope logs in lengths up to 50
feet, one of the longest in the industry. The longer log means fewer
butt joints, which adds to both the aesthetic appeal of the home as
well as the internal strength. Contact us today for more information, a
